Planning the job

Work backward from the intended use

  • Concrete crushing processes existing concrete into smaller material for a confirmed use or handling plan.
  • A project may need material retained on the property, or the priority may be clearing a demolition area for its next use.
  • Crushing concrete does not, by itself, establish the material requirements for a driveway, pad or another construction application.
  • Also distinguish concrete that is already separated from material still mixed into a demolition pile.
  • The starting condition affects what must happen before processing can begin and how the surrounding work area is organized.

Compare processing on site with clearing the site

  • On-site processing needs space for the incoming material, the work itself and the resulting stockpile.
  • That space has to coexist with vehicle access and the next phase of the project.
  • Keeping material nearby may be attractive, but only if the property can accommodate the full sequence.
