Planning the job

Describe how full the unit is, not just its size

  • A unit's dimensions do not show whether it holds a few pieces of furniture or tightly packed contents from floor to ceiling.
  • Photograph the visible arrangement and explain what you know about material farther inside.
  • If retained possessions need to go to another location, describe the destination and request that handling separately so it can be reviewed with the removal.
  • Do not assume that a pickup automatically includes moving retained belongings.

Plan the route from the unit to the loading area

  • Access can involve more than a gate code.
  • Describe the route and any facility arrangements needed for the appointment.
  • Request the removal and cleanup needed for that handoff, then handle the account closure directly with the facility.
  • Emptying the unit and ending the rental agreement are separate steps.
  • A final review of retained possessions and the cleared space can help you complete both without confusing the responsibilities.

Frequently asked questions

Can you meet me at the facility?

Yes, or work from the entry code and unit number if the facility allows it.

What about the stuff worth keeping?

Identify retained items before the cleanout. If you want them taken to another location, include the destination and request that handling separately. Iron Elk reviews the delivery, access and any additional trip with the removal scope; moving retained belongings is included only when confirmed in the quote.
