Anything that stays is marked before loading; item-specific conditions are confirmed in the quote.

Access and preparation

Note whether items are inside or already accessible, and any stairs, gates, doorways or tight routes on the way out.

What shapes the quote

Planning the job

Clear toward the way you want to use the basement

  • You may want room for storage you can actually reach, space around a workbench or an open area before repairs begin.
  • Boxes may sit in front of older furniture, with items tucked under the stairs or behind a utility area.
  • Show those separate areas in your photos rather than photographing only the nearest pile.
  • The approved area can then be considered separately instead of assuming everything below the stairs belongs in the removal load.

Account for the entire route upstairs

  • The route includes more than the basement steps.
  • Show the path through to the outside, and mention whether a separate walkout entrance is available for review.
  • You do not need to drag heavy pieces toward the stairs to demonstrate the problem.
  • For contents affected by a past leak or water event, identify which areas and items were involved.
  • Removal and the work needed to correct the underlying building condition are separate questions.

Conditions to keep in view

  • Explain whether you want the basement emptied for another professional, only selected damaged contents removed or a broader cleanup reviewed.

Frequently asked questions

Can you handle a flooded basement's contents?

Yes. Waterlogged carpet and furniture are heavy, which is exactly why the per-job price beats guessing.

Freezers and dehumidifiers down there too?

Yes, sealed units included, handled the right way on the way out.
