Freshly graded bare soil sloping away from a house with a stone foundation.

Planning the job

Repair the trouble spots or reshape the drive?

  • A driveway with a few worn areas presents a different job from one that needs a wider entrance, a new parking space or a different route across the property.
  • Adding material and changing the shape of the drive are separate decisions, even when both appear in the same proposal.

Keep access and the finished surface in the same plan

  • Driveway work often takes place on the only route to a home, garage or work area.
  • Identify the access you need during the project, including parking for residents and space for deliveries.
  • The finish also needs a clear boundary.
  • Repairing the driving surface does not automatically describe what happens to adjoining lawn, roadside edges or an old pile of material.

Conditions to keep in view

  • Iron Elk can coordinate the selected grading, material and hauling work around that defined portion of the project.

For icy entrances, walks, lanes or parking areas, see salting and deicing. Winter availability is confirmed by ZIP.
