What Cannot Go in a Dumpster?
Tell us about restricted material before loading. Ordinary dumpster and junk loads are not the right place for liquids, chemicals, pressurized containers or unidentified material.
Check the receiving facility’s rules before loading material that needs separate handling.

Ask before these items enter a load
A material may be accepted through a separate facility program even when it cannot go in an ordinary Iron Elk load. Acceptance, quantity limits and fees must be confirmed for the specific destination.
| Material | Next step |
|---|---|
| Paint, solvents, pesticides and other chemicals | Identify the product and contact the local waste authority for an approved collection option |
| Propane cylinders and pressurized containers | Ask the supplier or an approved collection program; keep out of ordinary loads |
| Batteries, televisions and electronics | Confirm the appropriate recycling program and handling requirements |
| Tires | Ask about separate acceptance, fees and transport requirements |
| Refrigerant appliances | Keep the unit intact and confirm an approved appliance destination |
| Suspected asbestos, contaminated debris or unknown substances | Stop loading that material and obtain qualified assessment and handling |
Find the appropriate local program
Start with Cecil County Solid Waste, Delaware Solid Waste Authority or your property’s county waste authority. For southern Chester County facility questions, use SECCRA’s current facility information. Programs may limit use by residence, business status, material or quantity.
Keep the rest of the job moving
List questionable items in the quote notes and share photos from a safe distance. Iron Elk confirms which materials are included and which need another approved path. Do not mix, open, drain or dismantle an unknown item to make it fit a regular load.
Frequently asked questions
Are tires banned from every disposal facility?
No. Some facilities accept tires separately with conditions or fees. They need approval before inclusion in an Iron Elk load.
Can I add a chemical container if it looks empty?
Tell us what it contained. Appearance alone does not establish that an item is appropriate for an ordinary load.
Can the rest of my cleanout still be quoted?
Yes. Identify the restricted material separately so the approved cleanup scope and any separate handling can be confirmed.
