Appliance & E-Waste Disposal Rules
Appliances, televisions and electronics need an item-specific disposal plan. A facility’s no-charge category does not make pickup or handling free.
Refrigerant, screens, batteries, data and local facility rules can change where an item goes and what it costs.

Identify each item
List the appliance type, quantity, condition and location. Tell us about stairs, narrow doors and whether the unit is still connected. Utility disconnection and any special handling must be agreed before removal.
Refrigerators and other sealed units
Identify refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers separately. Keep refrigerant systems intact and confirm an approved receiving facility. Empty personal contents and discuss moving preparation with the people handling the unit.
Electronics, screens and data
List televisions, monitors, computers and batteries separately from ordinary trash. The destination’s program determines what it accepts. Back up and remove personal data before releasing equipment; standard hauling does not include certified data destruction.
Compare disposal and service charges
Cecil County and SECCRA use different appliance fee categories. Check the Cecil fee guide or SECCRA fee guide for examples. Carrying, loading, transport and special handling are quoted for the actual job, even when a facility accepts a category at no charge.
Combine with a cleanout
Request appliance removal and identify other cleanout material in the same form. The quote should separate accepted items, access work and any excluded materials.
Frequently asked questions
Is appliance pickup free?
Pickup is quoted by the item, labor, access, transport and destination. A no-charge facility category does not guarantee a free pickup.
Can a television go in the dumpster?
Keep it separate and ask about the approved electronics route before loading.
Is data destruction included?
No certified data-destruction service is included in standard hauling. Arrange your data handling before releasing devices.
