Walls that hold the grade and finish the view

A retaining wall does structural work first and looks good second. Terraces, capped fieldstone and clean transitions to lawn are planned around drainage and what the wall supports.

The site determines the wall scope

Tell us where the wall will sit, what is above and below it, and what you want to improve. A border around a planting bed and a wall supporting a larger change in elevation involve different work. Height, length, ground conditions, drainage, access and nearby structures all help define the project.

A site review establishes the appropriate construction approach and any additional design or approval requirements before scheduling. You can begin without knowing the final wall system or exact measurements.

Replacing an existing retaining wall

If a wall is leaning, separating or deteriorating, include photos of the wall and surrounding ground. The review considers the existing condition and the work needed beyond the visible face. Removal, material handling, preparation and the replacement structure should be addressed in the written scope.

Repair can be considered where appropriate, but the condition and cause of the problem determine whether it is a suitable option.

Before and after: Retaining Walls

Finish the ground around the wall

A wall project may also involve grading, drainage, planting beds or lawn restoration. Include the intended finish so those pieces can be reviewed together. Wall dimensions, materials, removal, site access and any design needs affect the quote.
